June Check-in: The Difference Between Fulfillment and Success...
Jun 02, 2025

...And Why Both Matter
Success and fulfillment. They’re often used interchangeably—but if you’ve ever hit a major milestone and still felt like something was missing, you already know: they’re not the same.
Success is the external applause. Fulfillment is internal peace. And magic happens when you intentionally make space for both.
Success tends to follow society’s checklist:
✔️The job
✔️The house
✔️The title
✔️The “busy but important” calendar
While these accomplishments are worth celebrating, they often reflect how others view our progress—not how we feel about it. Success is measurable. It’s public. And sometimes, it's all about the performance.
But what happens when the applause fades?
Fulfillment is quieter—but deeper.
It’s the joy of waking up and actually wanting to start the day.
It’s knowing your energy is being used in meaningful ways.
It’s feeling like you’re living in alignment with who you truly are—not just what’s expected of you.
Fulfillment isn’t always flashy. But it lasts longer than a promotion, a paycheck, or a highlight reel.
Why Does the Difference Matter? Because chasing one without the other leads to imbalance.
You can be “successful” by every external measure—and still feel stuck, disconnected, or restless. You can also feel fulfilled in your purpose—but struggle financially or feel frustrated if your talents aren't being fully used.
The sweet spot? It’s not either/or. It’s both/and.
Here's 5 ways to help bridge the gap between success and fulfillment!
- Define Success for You
Not for your boss, your family, or your social feed.
Ask yourself: What does a successful life actually look and feel like—on my terms? - Tune In Before You Log On
Before checking emails or rushing into to-dos, check in with your energy.
Am I moving from pressure… or purpose? - Create Wins That Feel Good Internally
Not every milestone needs an audience.
Journal, reflect, or track quiet progress. It matters. - Pursue Projects That Align with Your Values
Whether paid or passion-driven, make room for work that feels right.
This is where purpose lives. - Reevaluate Regularly
Our definition of success evolves—and that’s a good thing.
Check in with yourself each season. What’s shifted? What needs attention?
There’s nothing wrong with wanting success—titles, goals, and tangible wins are empowering. But without fulfillment, they’re incomplete.
The most radiant lives are built with both:
Achievement + Alignment. Applause + Inner Peace. Doing well + Feeling good.
