Simplify Your Commitments: A focused February reset for more clarity and energy
Feb 01, 2026
Sometimes the momentum we gain in January feels energizing at first, but by February, it becomes clear that we may need to slow down, reassess our commitments, and edit how we are using our time.
January swept me into momentum I didn’t fully see coming. I started four books, enrolled in two new courses, and filled my schedule with meaningful connections and growth. Even with intentions that felt good, I noticed something important: not everything that is beneficial is aligned, and not every commitment supports the season I am stepping into.
It's time to treat February as a strategic reset. Review your commitments, identify what feels misaligned, and redirect your energy toward what truly supports your long-term purpose.
If your year started full, busy, or overwhelming, this is your chance to edit your commitments with intention.
A Simple 5 Question Process to Release One Commitment This Month
Here is a process to use to reassess what truly deserves space and align with your future self.
- What feels heavy every time you think about it?
Your body often signals misalignment before your mind does.
- What value does this commitment offer you today?
Ask whether it supports your well-being, growth, or purpose right now.
- Does this serve your future self or your past self?
Some commitments belong to a chapter you have already outgrown.
- What will realistically happen if you release or postpone this?
Most consequences are smaller than the fear attached to them.
- What space would open up if you let this go?
Consider what you would gain in clarity, energy, focus, or emotional bandwidth.
